Detection of Gas Concentration Levels in HVAC Systems
The use of building contamination modeling software to determine the optimal
sensor network for specified target analytes and budget constraints. The modeling
software calculates gas concentration levels throughout each zone of a building
as a function of time. Probability distributions were devised for which zone
the release would occur in, which CB agent was released and its quantity.
ALD Valves for Next-Generation Energy Conversion Devices
This article presents a case study of how challenges were overcome to meet
an engineered-to-order ALD valve that met the needs of a fuel-cell application.
The high-productivity valve is another entry in an industry producing growing
numbers of engineered-to-order products as a response to the demands of higher
temperatures and exotic materials. The new capability to deposit uniform, conformal
films of high quality have implications for next-generation energy conversion
devices, as well as any technology benefiting from thin-film deposition.
Laser Ablation
An explanation and application of laser ablation, a process whereby material
is removed from a solid by using laser beams where the material is converted
into a plasma. Laser ablation very valuable for both research and industrial
applications.
Vacuum Gas Manifold Design
Process gas manifold design factors to consider when metering into a vacuum.
Discusses viscous flow vs. molecular flow regimes, Knudson flow, and other
design considerations.
